Beautiful Summer Wedding in Cornhill Castle’s Refurbished Pavilion
With a ceremony in the new look Pavilion, an outdoor drinks reception and an evening of dancing in the Grand Ballroom, Ellie and John tied the knot surrounded by their loved ones at Cornhill Castle on Saturday 2nd May.
Cornhill Castle, located in Biggar, is an enchanting setting to get married. The venue offers a choice of beautiful indoor and outdoor wedding spaces, one of which is the Pavilion, a permanent structure on the grounds, located next to the Grand Ballroom. The wedding Pavilion has undergone an exciting change, with a recent refurbishment, creating an even more beautiful ceremony setting.
Ellie and John were the first couple to get married in the new space on Saturday 2nd May, and we gave them a preview of the refreshed space the day before their wedding.
Arriving at the castle in the afternoon, Gill from our wedding team led the couple through to the new Pavilion, which includes stunning new wooden floors, chandeliers, foliage and fabric drapery from the ceiling and incredible end-of-aisle flower displays. See the full new look Pavilion.
Upon seeing the new space, Ellie and John were blown away, and the bride-to-be even shed a few happy tears. “We felt so emotional seeing it for the first time as it’s everything we could have hoped for and more!” she told us.
“Walking in felt like a dream. It was so bright, spacious and just looked incredible on the day. Everyone commented on how amazing it looked and how special it was for us to be the first!”
Their wedding included a drinks reception outside in the glorious sun and an evening of laughing and dancing with their loved ones, and the changes to the Pavilion were the cherry on top for their beautiful day.
Reflecting on their special day, Ellie added, “The day ran perfectly, the sun was shining, and we had such unreal suppliers. The highlight of the wedding day was definitely the ceremony. Not only being the first but seeing all our favourite people in one place for us getting married was just a dream come true!”
Laura, who is part of the wedding team at Cornhill Castle, was just as thrilled about the new space, explaining: “I didn’t think I could love Cornhill Castle any more than I did, but after seeing the newly refurbished Pavilion, I am in love all over again."
“I can honestly say it's the most beautiful ceremony space I have ever seen, and I am so excited to show couples this romantic setting they can have for their special day."
And it turns out the wedding suppliers from Ellie and John’s day couldn’t wait to see the Pavilion for themselves either!
The couple’s photographer, Chic Photo by Jacqui, stopped by the Pavilion before the wedding started to see the updates and commented: “The space is a photographer’s dream, with natural light pouring through the roof. Pleated curtains, chandeliers, and flower displays create a luxurious ambience, making it the ideal place for a wedding ceremony.”
Videographer LPR Wedding Films was also excited about the changes, telling us: “The space is absolutely beautiful, with an abundance of natural light that makes capturing moments effortless.
There’s also plenty of room to position tripods discreetly, keeping everything out of the way of guests while still getting the perfect shots.”
The couple’s celebrant, George McLean, from Fuze Ceremonies, reflected: “Somehow, they have made the very same space feel twice as big with the light pouring in from the exposed glass roof, alongside the silky white fabric walls and elegant, classy flooring.
Add in the archway entrance, and you’ve got a space that sets any couple’s wedding day off perfectly.
Cornhill Castle was already an epic wedding venue; this just takes things to a whole new level. I can’t wait to go back.”
