Manorview team member Amy says ‘I do’ at Brisbane House
On July 27th, our Central Reservations advisor Amy said ‘I do’ to her new husband Sam at a gorgeous ceremony in our coastal venue, Brisbane House.
What’s it like to get married in the business you work for? And what advice does Amy have for future brides and grooms? We spoke to the new Mrs McCaffrey to find out…
Tell us the story of how it all began!
"Me and Sam were set up on a blind double date by mutual friends in July 2017. We had no idea who we were going to meet! So, it was a lovely surprise when we got on so well and continued seeing each other. 10 years later, and we’re now Mr & Mrs – and Mum and Dad to our wee boy Scott."
And you weren’t the only Manorview team member in the wedding party were you?!..
"Sam worked at The Torrance Hotel (East Kilbride) for 5 years, and my first job with Manorview was there too. My Dad is a Chef at Bowfield Hotel (Howwood) and my Bridesmaid and now sister-in-law Nicole is Head Receptionist at Torrance. So, we have a very close relationship with the team, and many of our colleagues came to celebrate with us! We had an intimate ceremony with 36 day guests, then in the evening we had a big party with 115!"
It must have been tough choosing a venue, so why Brisbane House?
"We loved Brisbane House from the get-go. The view from the glass front suite is so incredible, and the viewing appointment gave us goosebumps! We actually booked prior to the refurbishment, so getting to enjoy everything new like the Honeymoon Suite and Wallace Suite prep room was such a treat. And with it being exclusive use, it was so lovely to have the whole venue just for us and our guests!
"Our Grans have a special love for Largs and spent many summers there, so it was a nice way to honour them, and it felt like they were with us on the wedding day."
You’ve worked at Manorview for a while. What was it like booking a Manorview venue when you work here?
"I was a little apprehensive about booking one of our venues at first – I didn’t want to feel like I was getting too involved! But honestly the team made us feel so comfortable and relaxed, and couldn’t have done more for us. All of my questions were answered on the lead up, and on the morning the team took everything off my hands and forced me to relax and enjoy my day (and give up control)!"
The wedding was so gorgeous – but what was your highlight?
"Marrying my best friend and having our closest family and friends there to celebrate with us!"
You’re part of the planning process for our other Manorview couples, helping them to arrange venue viewings when they enquire! So, what one piece of advice would you give people planning their wedding?
"Try not to focus too much on other people’s opinions! Trends come and go and change so often. Just focus on what’s important to you both so that you can have the day you want!"
You’ve been part of Team Manorview for nearly six years, and now you continue your journey here while in your wife and Mum era! What keeps you here?
"Yes, I started in 2019 at Torrance Hotel on reception, moved to Bowfield as Duty Manager during the pandemic, then spent a few years there before joining the Central Reservations Team. Because we’re a group, there’s lots of room for career progression which has been great! But it’s the team that keeps me here. It’s such a welcoming and friendly environment at the office and in any of the venues. I’ve truly made friends for life!"
